At Follicle, we only offer treatments with an evidence base to work. No gimmicks. Not all treatments are recommended for different types of hair loss, this is why we always start with a complimentary consultation to make sure to get you started on the right path.

  • Pricing for hair transplant procedures is determined in consult with Dr Hamish and is dependent on how many grafts are required to achieve the desired goal. How many grafts a patient may need is a multifactorial decision, and may be impacted by such things as native density, degree of hair loss, and patient preferences.   • What is mesotherapy?

    • Mesotherapy involves injecting a potent DHT blocker under the scalp with a small needle where it can act effectively to prevent hair loss, with a much lower risk of systemic side effects. 

    • When injected under the skin, this large molecule can work right where it needs to with minimal systemic absorption.

    • Mesotherpay can offer a great 3-monthly alternative for those looking to reduce the chance of side effects or just don’t want to take a tablet every day

  • PRF or “Platelet-Rich Fibrin” is a natural regenerative therapy that uses the healing properties of your own platelets to improve hair growth and density. When compared to other platelet therapies like PRP - PRF has a higher concentration of platelets, white blood cells, and fibrin making it the preferred method of regenerative hair loss therapy. 

    How does it work?

    PRF has a high concentration of platelets, white blood cells, and fibrin. These growth factors stimulate collagen and cell renewal, which when applied to targeted areas works to activate cells and dormant hair follicles, improving growth and density. 

    Treatment Steps

    1.) Blood collection - a nurse will collect a small amount of blood just like a routine blood test. 

    2.) Processing - the blood is spun in a centrifuge at a specific speed to separate your PRF from the other components of your blood. 

    3.) Injection - The resulting PRF containing white blood cells, platelets, and fibrin is re-injected into your scalp. The total treatment time is about 45 minutes.

    • LLLT is an effective treatment that works on the cellular level to stimulate growth, right at the follicular level. 

    • Evidence has shown that LLLT over a 6 month treatment plan is as effective at stimulating new growth as minoxidil - however, the evidence is for laser therapy, not just LED (theres a difference!) 

    • Follicle has a combined laser and LED machine with commercial grade power to yield significant results, which can be used alone or in conjunction with a home device. 

    Treatment includes microscope assessment of your hair to determine areas of focus and to assess progress. If you are interested in LLLT, start with a free consult to assess if this is a good treatment for you - this treatment is often offered during the same appointment, no need to come back for your first treatment! 

    Recommended treatment plan: 20 minute session 1-3 times per week.

    1 session: $80 
    6 sessions: $420 ($70/session) including microscope assessment of hair loss and progress

What to expect

Our Transplant Process

1. Comprehensive Consultation

Your first step is to book in a consultation with Dr Hamish, here the procedure will be discussed in detail and your eligibility considered. You will get a thorough hair loss and donor area assessment, with a hairline mock up designed and a plan for procedure day tailored specifically to you. 

2. Pre-procedure optimisation

Following your consult, you will be given a plan to ensure the smoothest process on procedure day, which will give you the best chance of a great result. This will vary between patients, but may include things like scalp care, supplements or even a trial of pharmaceutical or alternative therapies to optimise your donor area prior to your procedure.

3. Procedure Day

On the day of your procedure, you’ll be welcomed back to the clinic by our friendly team! You will meet with Dr Hamish again and lock in a final hairline design, before getting started with your hair transplant procedure. Performed under local anaesthesia and medication to help you relax, Dr Hamish and the team pride themselves on helping even the most nervous patients feel comfortable and at ease. 

Extraction usually takes 2-4 hours which is face down, here many patients nap while others enjoy the music or chat to the team. Following extraction, patients are provided with a complimentary lunch from Bennet St Dairy cafe, a local favourite, before getting started on implantation. 

Implantation usually takes another 2-4 hours where each extracted graft is carefully placed by Dr Hamish exactly where it should be. For this part, you will be face up and you will be able to watch your favourite series or movie. 

At the end of the day, your new grafts are all in place and ready to start growing! We offer a discreet exit from the rear access of the clinic and you are sent home with everything you need for your recovery including clear instructions on what to do and what not to do.

4. Follow up and LLLT

Your care doesn’t end when the procedure is over, you will need to follow up with our medical team 1 week after your procedure to ensure you are recovering as expected. You will then have follow up appointments at 1 month, 6 months and 12 months, with the option to also follow up at the 3 or 9 month mark if you wish. 

Three light therapy sessions are also included, one blue light therapy usually alongside the 1 week follow up, and two red light therapy sessions to aid growth later in the recovery process.
